Out in the world

The hours I like best

I took this at Stone Mountain on a day when Georgia got everything right. Dry air, a comfortable temperature, and a walk I didn’t want to end.

It reminded me of the Bay Area. Weather like that felt ordinary there. Here, I notice it enough to remember the day.

I miss the Bay.

But I’ve come to love Georgia’s mornings and twilight. The middle of the day isn’t always for me. Early and late, though, I want to be outside.

When I edited this photo, I wanted it to have that twilight feel. The day was lovely on its own, but I wanted the picture to carry some of what I love about Georgia’s quieter hours.

This was one of those rare days when I liked the hours in between, too.
