Out in the world

Room for both

I want a night out to leave room for two things: getting absorbed in the music and having a conversation.

That makes me curious about the edges of a dance floor. What would a good place to pause feel like? Close enough that the music still feels part of the room, quiet enough to hear the next sentence.

I like the idea of moving between those two kinds of attention: following a rhythm, then following what someone is saying. Neither needs to fill the whole evening.

When I'm choosing somewhere to go, I want to remember to ask about both. What can I dance to, and is there room to talk?
